Protocol Education are working with vibrant and inclusive secondary schools, and seeking new dedicated Cover Supervisors to join their teams. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the classroom, supporting students aged 11-16 in a dynamic learning environment.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step in to manage classrooms during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work and maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere. This is an unqualified position, meaning no formal teaching qualification is required – we’re looking for enthusiasm, resilience, and the ability to connect with young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects, delivering pre-prepared lessons.
- Manage student behaviour in line with school policies to create a safe and focused environment.
- Support students in completing tasks and answering basic queries.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and contribute to the wider school community.
- Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and behaviour during cover lessons.
Who We’re Looking For:
While this is an unqualified role and no teaching qualification is necessary, we’d love to hear from candidates who bring:
- Previous experience working with children or young people (preferably in an educational setting, such as a school, youth group, or tutoring environment).
- Confidence in managing groups and maintaining a calm, authoritative presence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
- Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A passion for education and supporting student success.
- Experience in a school setting is a bonus, but not essential – we value transferable skills and a willingness to learn!
