PMLD Teaching Assistant Required in Sutton

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Sutton area. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them access education and reach their individual potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students with complex needs and making a meaningful difference to their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD.
  • Assist students with their learning, communication, personal care, and physical needs.
  • Support pupils using a range of communication methods, including Makaton and PECS where appropriate.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning programmes.
  • Support sensory activities and interventions designed to enhance engagement and development.
  • Promote students' independence, wellbeing, and social development.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with PMLD, SEN, or complex needs is desirable.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Comfortable supporting pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
