Behavioural Teaching Assistant Required in Sutton

A supportive and inclusive school in Sutton is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who may display challenging behaviours and require additional guidance to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and academic progress, helping students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Assist students in managing their behaviour and engaging positively with learning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal development.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support strategies.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs where required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children, young people, or individuals with behavioural needs is desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
