Protocol Education are looking for a confident and resilient SEN Teacher specialising in SEMH and behaviour to join a specialist setting in Sunderland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who understands that positive relationships are often the foundation for successful learning.

The pupils may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education and require a more structured, consistent and personalised approach.

About the Role

You will create a classroom environment where pupils feel safe, understood and encouraged to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Differentiating work to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Establishing clear and consistent classroom expectations.
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation.
  • Building strong professional relationships.
  • Identifying barriers to learning.
  • Developing personalised strategies to overcome those barriers.
  • Tracking and assessing pupil progress.
  • Working towards EHCP outcomes.
  • Supporting pupils to develop independence.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and pastoral teams.
  • Liaising with parents, carers and other professionals.
  • Creating an environment where pupils feel confident to participate.

Experience within SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, behaviour support or specialist SEND settings would be highly desirable.

Teachers from mainstream backgrounds with strong behaviour management and a genuine interest in SEND are also encouraged to apply.
