We're working with schools in Sunderland that are looking to appoint a full‑time Communication Support Assistant with BSL skills for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them access education in a positive and inclusive learning environment. We're looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who is committed to supporting pupils both academically and socially.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing communication support through British Sign Language
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with classroom learning and differentiated activities
- Encouraging positive participation and engagement in lessons
- Supporting pupils' confidence, wellbeing and independence
- Working alongside teaching and support staff to achieve positive outcomes
What we're looking for:
- BSL qualification or practical signing experience
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Experience supporting children or young people is advantageous
- A positive, adaptable and supportive attitude
- A passion for inclusive education
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
