Daily Expectations & Routine
Morning Routine: Students arrive from around 8:30am. You will support them as they settle into school, helping regulate emotions and preparing them for the day ahead.
Lessons: Throughout the day, you will:
- Support students using BSL during lessons
- Break down instructions into accessible communication
- Move around the classroom, not remain static
- Help students stay engaged and focused
Lunch & Social Time: You will eat alongside students and use this time to:
- Continue building communication skills
- Encourage social interaction
- Support emotional regulation where needed
End of Day: Students typically leave earlier in SEN settings. Staff remain until between 3:30pm–4:30pm, using this time for:
- Planning
- Progress notes
- Communication logs
Lesson Support Expectations
You will be fully involved in lessons:
- Supporting literacy and communication development
- Reinforcing understanding through BSL
- Encouraging independence
- Providing real-time feedback
Additional Responsibilities
- Supporting emotional regulation
- Working closely with SENCO and therapists
- Helping students develop life skills
