The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Sports Coach to lead engaging physical education and sports sessions tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs. You’ll foster a safe and supportive environment where students can grow both physically and emotionally, using sport as tool for inclusion, self‑esteem, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver fun, inclusive sports sessions designed for students with SEND and SEMH needs.

  • Adapt activities so all students can participate, regardless of physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges.

  • Promote teamwork, self‑confidence, and emotional well‑being through sport.

  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams to align sessions with students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Monitor progress, provide feedback, and celebrate student achievements.

  • Support emotional regulation and social development through structured activities.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement.

  • Ensure all activities are safe and comply with health and safety standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Relevant sports coaching qualification or a degree in Physical Education/Sports Science.

  • Additional SEND or SEMH‑related training is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Experience coaching or teaching children with SEND and/or SEMH needs is preferred.
