We're working with a specialist SEMH provision in South Shields seeking compassionate and motivated SEMH Support Mentors to join their team. The provision operates across two sites and supports pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and pastoral support. Staff play a vital role in helping young people build confidence, develop resilience and re‑engage with education. This is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Helping pupils develop social skills, confidence and self‑esteem
- Assisting with classroom learning and engagement
- Providing mentoring and pastoral support throughout the school day
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
What we’re looking for:
- A caring and supportive nature
- Experience working with children or young people
- An understanding of SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive and adaptable attitude
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
