Protocol Education are recruiting a confident and enthusiastic PE & Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist setting in South Shields.
This isn't simply a role where you'll stand on the sidelines. You'll become an important member of the school team, supporting pupils throughout the school day and using your personality and sporting interests to build positive relationships.
Your Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Assisting with PE lessons and physical activities.
- Encouraging pupils to participate in sport.
- Supporting 1:1 and small-group activities.
- Using sport to develop teamwork and communication.
- Helping pupils manage emotions and regulate behaviour.
- Supporting classroom learning when required.
- Encouraging positive attitudes towards education.
- Reinforcing boundaries and expectations.
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime.
- Building positive relationships with pupils who may have struggled in previous educational settings.
The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for sport.
- Is confident leading activities.
- Has experience coaching or working with young people.
- Is energetic and engaging.
- Can confidently manage challenging behaviour.
- Is patient, consistent and resilient.
- Understands the importance of positive relationships.
Previous experience as a sports coach, PE assistant, football coach, youth worker, fitness instructor, personal trainer or Teaching Assistant would be highly desirable.
Drivers are particularly welcome, although this is not essential.
