We're working with a specialist alternative provision in the South Shields area that is looking for dedicated Pastoral Support Workers to join their supportive team. Operating across two sites, the provision supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Staff are committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where every pupil can succeed. We're looking for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
- Building trusted relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
- Assisting with behaviour interventions and conflict resolution
- Supporting attendance, engagement and personal development
- Working alongside teachers, families and external agencies
What we're looking for:
- A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Experience working with children, young people or within a support role
- A calm and empathetic approach – The ability to build positive professional relationships
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

This advert is for a temporary position; in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
