We're working with a specialist alternative provision in South Shields that is preparing for the new academic year and looking to welcome dedicated Learning Support Mentors to their team. This specialist setting operates across two sites and supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Staff work together to create a positive and structured environment where young people can build confidence, re-engage with education and achieve success.

We're looking for a patient, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Mentor who can provide both academic and emotional support to pupils throughout the school day.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting pupils to engage positively with learning
  • Building trusting relationships with young people
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement support plans
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and wellbeing

What we're looking for:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
