Protocol Education are recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to join a nurturing and inclusive SEND school in Shrewsbury. The school is now seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cover Supervisor to join their team and support high-quality teaching and learning across the school.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within education, SEND, care, youth work, or related settings is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and relationship‑building skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring pupils remain engaged and supported.
  • Deliver pre‑set learning activities while adapting support to meet individual SEND needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence, participation, and independence.
  • Promote a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment through positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Act as a consistent and encouraging role model for students across the school.

Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Confident managing behaviour in a calm, patient, and positive manner.
  • Able to motivate and engage pupils with a range of additional learning and communication needs.
  • Enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in education, SEND, care, or support settings is beneficial but not essential.
