Teaching in SEND isn’t for everyone. But for the right teacher, it’s everything.
We’re working with a well-respected SEND school in Sunderland that supports pupils with autism, SEMH, and complex needs. They’re looking for a teacher who understands how to connect, adapt, and teach in a way that truly lands.

This isn’t about ticking curriculum boxes. It’s about helping pupils feel safe, seen, and able to learn—on their own terms. You’ll be supported by experienced LSAs, a strong SENCO, and leadership who actually listen.

What the role involves:

  • Adapting lessons to meet EHCP targets and individual needs

  • Working closely with therapists, families, and the wider team

  • Creating a predictable, structured learning environment

What you’ll bring:

  • UK QTS or equivalent

  • Experience in an SEND or specialist setting (or strong SEND knowledge from mainstream)

  • Calm behaviour management and a flexible, trauma-informed approach

  • Creativity, resilience, and a genuine passion for inclusive education

Why join this school?
You’ll work in a well-equipped setting with a team who genuinely care. Training and development are part of the deal, and your voice will be heard when it matters.

With Protocol Education, you’ll also get:

  • Weekly pay via PAYE (no umbrella deductions)

  • Free SEND-focused CPD and de-escalation training

  • Personal support from a dedicated SEND consultant

  • Roles that are tailored to your strengths and experience
