We’re looking for a patient, caring SEND Support Assistant to join the SEND classroom at a Primary School in the centre of Newcastle from September. This role is all about helping children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn in a setting designed to meet their individual needs. If you’re calm under pressure, encouraging by nature, and love seeing children build confidence step by step, this could be a brilliant fit.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils within the SEND classroom with their learning and development
  • Helping children stay engaged with activities and classroom routines
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff
  • Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Creating a positive, structured environment where pupils feel safe and confident

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • A calm, positive, and nurturing approach
  • Someone who builds strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Backgrounds in teaching assistant roles, care work, youth work, or support work are all valuable
  • Experience with autism, speech and language needs, or behaviour support would be a real bonus.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
