Not every role is the same, and this one really matters. We’re working with a school in BS16 looking for a confident, calm and highly experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis, starting immediately until the end of the academic year. This young person has very high needs and requires someone who truly understands behaviour, not just on paper, but in practice, moment by moment. You’ll need to be someone who can read situations quickly, stay grounded under pressure, and build trust over time. There will be challenging moments, but also real opportunities to make a lasting difference.

What this role involves:

  • 1:1 support for a pupil with complex, high-level needs
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour with confidence
  • Creating a safe, consistent environment where the pupil can engage and feel understood
  • Working closely with staff to follow tailored strategies and support plans

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong, proven behaviour management experience in SEN settings
  • Is patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Can build genuine relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Brings a steady, positive presence into the classroom, even on tough days

What We Need to Get You Started:

  • A valid passport
  • Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence, utility bill, or council tax letter
  • An up-to-date CV covering your work, education, or placements, with any gaps explained
  • Two years of references, including any recent school or placement experience
  • An overseas police check if you’ve lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years

This isn’t a role for someone just starting out in SEN. It’s for someone who knows their craft, understands behaviour deeply, and wants to use those skills where they’re needed most. If you’re Thrive trained, brilliant, you’ll already have a strong foundation for this kind of support. If not, we can help you get there with our free Thrive training, which schools genuinely value. This is the kind of role where your experience really counts. The right person will have a huge impact, not just on learning, but on a child’s day-to-day school life.
