Protocol Education is working with a welcoming specialist school in South Shields that is looking to appoint a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with
Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex additional needs on a full-time basis from September.
You’ll be joining a highly supportive team where every child follows an individualised learning journey.
The school focuses on communication, independence, sensory learning and life skills, celebrating every achievement no matter how small.
Specialist schools in the area commonly support pupils with SLD, PMLD, autism and complex communication needs through personalised learning approaches.

- Working hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
- Term‑time only

- Your responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with sensory-based learning activities
- Supporting communication through visual aids and alternative communication methods
- Encouraging independence and personal development
- Supporting personal care where required

- Has experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
- Is patient, caring and resilient
- Has a genuine passion for SEND
- Can build positive relationships with pupils
- Is willing to support personal care if required
