Are you passionate about supporting young people who need structure, consistency, and encouragement to thrive? We are working with a specialist SEMH provision in Sunderland that is seeking a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 3. The school caters to students who have experienced barriers to learning and require tailored support to re-engage with education.

Location: Sunderland

Pay: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience)

Start Date: ASAP / April 2026

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting learning across core subjects
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with SEMH, behaviour needs, or youth work
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
