Are you an experienced SEND Support Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role where you can genuinely make a difference? Protocol Education is recruiting skilled 1:1 Support Assistants to work in Ruislip schools, supporting pupils with complex additional needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will be supporting pupils who are non-verbal, have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and present with complex learning and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for candidates who already have hands-on experience working within specialist SEND settings and feel confident supporting pupils with high-level needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support for pupils who are non-verbal, have ASD, and complex needs
  • Supporting communication using visual supports, PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation, sensory needs, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum through structured classroom and intervention support
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider support staff to implement personalised learning plans
  • Building strong, consistent relationships to promote engagement, trust, and progress

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with ASD, non-verbal communication needs, and complex SEND
  • Previous experience working in a SEND school is essential. Applications without this experience will not be considered.
  • Confidence using communication strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, or Makaton
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine commitment to helping children reach their full potential
