We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Richmond, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support, both within the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. You'll play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement, and building students' confidence and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour positively.
- Help create a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Encourage social development, independence, and self-confidence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for students.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and effectively.
Previous experience in education, youth work, mentoring, support work, care, or sports coaching is highly desirable.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, or willingness to obtain one.
