Can you stay calm under pressure and help young people feel safe, valued, and understood? We’re recruiting Qualified Teaching Assistants for specialist schools in South Shields supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.

The role

You’ll support pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, trust, and engagement in education. Your consistency, empathy, and ability to build rapport will be key to helping pupils succeed.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Using restorative and positive behaviour approaches
  • Building trusted relationships with pupils
  • Supporting learning and emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams

What we’re looking for

  • TA qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting behaviour or SEMH
  • Strong emotional resilience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A patient and non-judgemental approach
