We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to join a school for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This is a highly rewarding role, supporting pupils who have complex learning, physical, sensory, and medical needs.
About the role
Pupils with PMLD require specialist support tailored to their individual needs. Many rely on assistive communication methods, sensory learning approaches, and personalised care routines. As a Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support in both classroom and personal care settings.
- Assist with physical and sensory activities designed to engage and stimulate pupils.
- Support pupils in developing communication, independence, and social interaction skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
- Promote a safe, structured environment where every pupil can thrive at their own pace.
What we are looking for
- Experience supporting children or adults with SEND (experience with PMLD, complex medical needs, or non-verbal communication is highly desirable).
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with high levels of need.
- Flexibility and a commitment to working as part of a wider support team.
What we offer

- Personalised support from a dedicated SEND consultant.
- Long-term roles in schools where your skills and contribution are genuinely valued.
- Opportunities to progress and develop within SEND education.
This role offers the chance to make a real difference for pupils with some of the most complex needs in education. Every day brings new challenges, but also the reward of seeing progress, however small, and knowing your support matters.
