A specialist SEN school in the Peterlee area is looking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex communication needs. The Role
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the school day, helping them access learning and feel supported within the classroom environment. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils during structured classroom lessons
- Helping pupils understand learning tasks and instructions
- Encouraging communication using visual supports, Makaton and structured routines
- Supporting pupils during sensory activities and transitions
- Working closely with teachers and therapists to support pupil progress
