An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle is looking for a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join its pastoral team this September. The Role

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group pastoral support to students
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Support students with attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and emotional regulation
  • Help remove barriers that prevent students from engaging with learning
  • Work closely with Heads of Year, pastoral leaders, teachers and families
  • Promote resilience, confidence and positive decision-making
  • Be a consistent, positive role model throughout the school day

You'll become a key member of the pastoral team, helping students feel safe, supported and ready to succeed.

We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people in education, youth work, mentoring or care
  • Calm, resilient and empathetic individuals
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confident professionals who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome challenges and achieve their potential

Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Childhood Studies, Sociology, Education or related subjects are also encouraged to apply.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
