This primary school is a warm, community‑focused school in the heart of North Shields. The school currently has around 320 pupils,with early years provision forming an important part of the school community. Rated "good" in its Ofsted inspection, the inspectors noted that the school promotes positive relationships and strong pastoral care. The school places a strong emphasis on community values, respect, and inclusion. It works closely with parents and the wider community to support pupils’ academic progress as well as their social and emotional development.
Responsibilities
As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you’ll be right at the heart of the classroom, helping create a space where young children can thrive.
- Supporting children during play‑based learning activities
- Helping create a safe, nurturing, and engaging nursery environment
- Working closely with the early years team to support development and routines
- Encouraging curiosity, communication, and confidence in young learners
- Building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
- Helping track progress and keep records where needed
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and understands how important the early years are.
- Experience working in early years or childcare (2+ years preferred)
- A warm, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- A relevant childcare or early years qualification (helpful but not essential)
