Protocol Education is working with schools across North County Durham (DH postcodes) to place graduates as Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors, supporting children from Early Years through to secondary.

Here’s what the role looks like:

  • Teaching Assistant work, Monday to Friday during term time, supporting pupils in EYFS, KS1, KS2 or SEND
  • Cover Supervisor work, more flexible days, ideal if you want classroom leadership experience
  • Hands-on experience that strengthens teacher training and PGCE applications
  • Paid, school-based experience with real responsibility
  • A Cover Supervisor leads a classroom during short-term teacher absences, delivering pre-set work, managing behaviour, and keeping learning on track.
  • Supply work gives you flexibility, variety, and time to reflect on your future, without taking work home. No evenings marking, no Sunday-night dread.

With Protocol Education, you’ll get weekly PAYE pay, free CPD, Thrive training, and a local consultant who actually knows your name and your goals. This is term-time only, school hours, and a genuinely smart way to start your education career.

In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
