We’re looking for a reliable and compassionate psychology graduate to work in a primary school as a

1:1 SEND Support Assistant alongside a Year 1 pupil from September.

This is a hands‑on role providing tailored support to help the child engage with learning, build confidence and make positive progress.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher, the SENDCo, and wider pastoral team to contribute to personalised strategies and adapt activities to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, one-to‑one support to a Year 1 pupil with identified additional needs.
  • Support access to the curriculum and reinforce learning activities under teacher guidance.
  • Build positive relationships with the pupil, encouraging independence and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt and differentiate tasks.
  • Assist with social and emotional skill building.
  • Contribute to observations and discussions about progress.
  • Who We’re Looking For
  • A psychology graduate

(or equivalent) with an interest in child development, learning, or SEND.

  • Someone calm, patient, and attentive to individual needs.
  • Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience volunteering or working with children or young people is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
