An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle is looking for a proactive and compassionate Attendance & Student Support Officer to join the pastoral team this September. The Role

  • Monitor and promote excellent student attendance across KS3 and KS4
  • Build positive relationships with students and their families to improve attendance and punctuality
  • Work closely with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff and external agencies where appropriate
  • Identify barriers to attendance and help implement effective support strategies
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and documentation
  • Support students' wellbeing, engagement and successful reintegration into school where required
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture where every student feels valued

You'll become a key member of the pastoral team, helping students overcome barriers that impact both attendance and achievement.

We're Looking For

  • Experience in attendance, pastoral support, education, youth work or safeguarding
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Calm, resilient and empathetic individuals
  • Confident professionals who can work effectively with students, families and staff
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential

Qualifications in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Health & Social Care or related fields are welcomed but not essential.
