We are recruiting for a permanent Baby Room Practitioner to join a welcoming and well-established nursery in Epping Forest.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a setting that genuinely values its staff, encourages career progression and offers the flexibility of a four or five-day working week.

Working within the baby room, you will provide calm, consistent, and responsive care to babies, helping them feel safe, secure and settled.

You’ll support their early development through sensory activities, tummy time, music, stories and age-appropriate play, while following each child’s individual feeding, sleeping and care routines.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing attentive, nurturing care within the baby room
  • Following individual feeding, sleeping and personal-care routines
  • Supporting bottle-feeding, weaning and mealtimes safely
  • Carrying out nappy changes and maintaining excellent hygiene standards
  • Planning engaging sensory and play-based learning activities
  • Completing observations and tracking development in line with the EYFS
  • Acting as a key person and building secure attachments with your allocated children
  • Maintaining positive and reassuring communication with parents and carers
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety, and safer-sleeping procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues to maintain the correct staff-to-child ratios

What the nursery can offer you

  • The choice of a four or five-day working week
  • A competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications
  • Generous childcare discounts
  • Genuine career progression opportunities
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Support from an approachable and welcoming management team
  • A positive environment where your ideas and contribution are valued
  • 12.07% statutory holiday pay inclusive in all pay rates

What we’re looking for

  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Previous experience caring for babies in a nursery or Early Years setting
  • A good understanding of the EYFS and babies’ developmental milestones
  • Knowledge of safer sleeping, bottle preparation, weaning and intimate-care routines
  • The ability to form secure, nurturing relationships with babies
  • A calm, patient and attentive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A valid right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one
  • Paediatric First Aid training is desirable, although training may be available

If your favourite place in a nursery is the baby room and you’re looking for a permanent position where you’ll be supported, appreciated, and encouraged to progress, we would love to hear from you.
