Main Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and sensory-based lessons.
- Support pupils' communication using methods such as Makaton, PECS, AAC devices, objects of reference, and sensory approaches.
- Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, moving and handling, and mobility support where required.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Promote independence, communication, social interaction, and engagement in learning.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly PMLD, SLD, or complex needs.
- Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to provide personal care and physical support.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
Desirable
- Training in Manual Handling, Makaton, or PECS.
- Experience working in a specialist SEN school.
- Relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or 3).
