We are seeking an enthusiastic Hearing Impaired Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Hearing Impaired Unit. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of supporting students in mainstream classes in a calm and professional manner. The position reports to the Head of the Centre of the Deaf.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in accessing the curriculum effectively, tailored to their needs and understanding.
  • Assist with implementing needs outlined in EHCPs.
  • Provide classroom support to maintain an inclusive environment.
  • Promote student inclusion.
  • Supervise and support students to foster independence and collaboration.
  • Help students develop skills in language, reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics.
  • Liaise with teachers and external professionals to support special programs and Inclusion Support Plans.
  • Monitor and report student progress and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Support the development of ICT skills and technology use in learning.
  • Adapt learning materials to students' understanding levels.
  • Build positive relationships with parents/carers and provide feedback as guided by teachers.
  • Assist with classroom preparations, students' physical needs, and promote positive behavior.
  • Support students during trips, visits, and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

All pay rates include statutory holiday pay of 12.07%. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.
