At Protocol Education, we’re looking for a compassionate, patient and proactive Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a welcoming and inclusive school setting. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives on building relationships, celebrating small wins, and making every school day feel safe, positive and meaningful.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting pupils with autism on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Helping children feel regulated, engaged and confident in the classroom
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to deliver tailored support
- Using visual aids, sensory strategies and communication tools to support learning
- Encouraging independence, social interaction and emotional wellbeing
- Creating calm, consistent and positive learning environments
What we’re looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism
- A calm, nurturing and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Backgrounds in education, care, youth work or support work are all welcomed
Extra points if you have:
- Team Teach or positive behaviour support training
- Experience with PECS, Makaton or sensory integration strategies
