A respected independent primary school in Fenham is seeking an experienced Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their close-knit Early Years team. About the Role

You’ll be working as part of a collaborative EYFS team, supporting both the class teacher and small groups of children in Nursery and Reception. This role will suit someone who is confident in the EYFS curriculum, understands the importance of routine and play-based learning, and can create calm, engaging spaces where children thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering the Early Years curriculum through structured play, exploration, and guided activities.
  • Helping to plan, set up, and assess activities that promote key areas of development.
  • Building strong relationships with children and parents, supporting emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Using observations to track progress against EYFS learning goals.
  • Ensuring safeguarding, hygiene, and health and safety procedures are always followed.

About You

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years Educator qualification (essential).
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and developmental milestones.
  • Experience supporting children aged 3–5 in a school or nursery setting.
  • Calm, patient, and organised, with strong communication skills.
  • Confident supporting toileting, transitions, and day-to-day routines.
