Are you an experienced BSL Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Leeds? Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate BSL Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments in a welcoming and inclusive school setting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with British Sign Language (BSL) skills who is passionate about supporting children with SEN and helping pupils thrive in the classroom.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with hearing impairments
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication and learning
  • Help pupils access lessons and classroom activities
  • Support social development, confidence, and independence
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • BSL Level 3 qualification or above (preferred)
  • Experience working with children, young people, or within education
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH & SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Experience in roles such as Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Communication Support Worker is highly desirable.
