Looking for a school-based role that mixes organisation with real connection to young people? We’re working with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in North Leeds who are looking for an Administrator / Attendance Officer to join their friendly admin and attendance team. This is a busy, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same, and your work genuinely helps students feel supported, safe, and ready to learn.
You’ll be right at the heart of the school day. Part admin, part attendance champion, and part student-facing support, this role is ideal if you enjoy variety, teamwork, and building positive relationships with pupils and families.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and recording student attendance throughout the school day
- Moving around the school to different departments to follow up on attendance where needed
- Supporting safeguarding processes linked to attendance and punctuality
- Liaising with parents and carers in a calm, professional, and supportive way
- Keeping attendance records accurate and up to date
- Producing attendance reports and basic metrics
- Handling everyday admin tasks such as emails, letters, and Excel spreadsheets
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in an administrative role
- Attendance experience is a bonus, but not essential
- Confidence using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- A willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Strong people skills and the confidence to speak with students, parents, and staff
- A DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
- Experience working in a school or with young people would be ideal
The details
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, term time only
- Option to work additional days during school holidays if you’d like
- Working hours: 8am to 3:30pm or 4pm, with an earlier finish on Fridays
- Up to 13 weeks or 65 days holiday per year
