A friendly and supportive primary school in Forest Hall is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their KS1 team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young learners and helping children thrive both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As a KS1 Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and make progress in the classroom. You may be supporting small groups or providing targeted 1:1 support depending on pupil needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting learning across KS1 (Year 1 and/or Year 2)
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils who need additional help
  • Assisting with phonics, early reading, writing and number skills
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or speech and language needs (where applicable)
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping to create a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting the class teacher with preparation, resources, and classroom routines

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an LSA who is patient, reliable, and confident supporting children in KS1. You should have:

  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting (KS1 preferred)
  • Strong understanding of early learning and phonics
  • A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • A nurturing and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Confidence building positive relationships with pupils
