Location: Peterlee

Salary: £85 - £108 per day (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time, Term-time only (temporary with the potential for a permanent role)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Peterlee. This role involves supporting neurodivergent students and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and learning difficulties. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students access learning and develop key social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with their learning, adapting resources to suit individual needs
  • Promote independence and confidence in the classroom
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies with a firm but fair approach
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with neurodivergent students or those with SEND (ASC, ADHD, learning difficulties)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to provide structure and support
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Psychology, Education, Youth Work) – desirable but not essential
