We are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in South Bristol (BS4) that is looking for a dedicated

Polish-speaking Learning Support Assistant to join their Key Stage 1 team from September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support young learners who speak Polish at home, helping them build confidence, develop their English language skills, and feel fully included in school life.

The school has a strong community focus and values the positive impact bilingual staff can have on pupils' learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you'll provide classroom support, deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions, and help pupils access learning both academically and socially.

Your ability to communicate in Polish will play an important role in building trust, supporting understanding, and helping children thrive within the classroom environment.

Your Role Will Include

  • Supporting teaching and learning across KS1 classrooms
  • Providing additional support for pupils who speak Polish as their first language
  • Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions
  • Helping pupils develop confidence in literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Supporting children with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
  • Assisting with classroom routines and creating a positive learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and families to support pupil progress

  • Fluent in both
  • Polish and English
  • Experience working with children in schools, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, or similar settings
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
  • Patient, calm, and resilient in your approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confident supporting children with a range of learning needs, including SEND, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties
  • Able to adapt to different situations and support pupils effectively
  • Committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where all children can flourish
  • What We Need to Get You Started
  • Valid passport or proof of your right to work in the UK.
  • Two proofs of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or council tax letter).
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained.
  • Two years of references, including work, volunteering or childcare where applicable.
  • An Overseas Police Check (OSPC) if you have lived overseas for three months or more within the last five years.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
