Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)?

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic SLCN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Kingston area. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who require additional support developing their communication, language, social interaction, and learning skills.

The Role

As an SLCN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with speech, language, and communication difficulties on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Encourage the development of communication and social interaction skills.
  • Help implement speech and language programmes recommended by therapists.
  • Support pupils' confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, speech and language therapists, and parents.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SLCN, SEN, or additional learning needs.
  • Is patient, caring, and adaptable.
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can effectively support pupils with communication barriers.
  • Is passionate about helping children achieve their potential.
  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
