Ready for a role where no two days are the same, and every day counts? We’re working with a brilliant SEN school in Ferryhill that’s part PRU, part SEMH provision, and 100% focused on changing lives. They’re looking for a confident, hands-on HLTA to step into a role where you’ll be trusted, supported, and genuinely valued. This is the kind of setting where relationships come first, small wins are celebrated loudly, and your impact is felt straight away. If you like a role where you can think on your feet, build strong connections, and make learning click for pupils who need it most, you’ll feel right at home here.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Leading small group sessions and interventions, adapting learning to meet pupils where they are.
  • Stepping in to cover lessons when needed, keeping things structured and engaging.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate, refocus, and re-engage.
  • Building strong, consistent relationships that help pupils feel safe and understood.
  • Using creative approaches to bring learning to life, especially when traditional methods don’t quite land.
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to keep the day running smoothly.
  • Supporting behaviour with a calm, confident approach, knowing when to step in and when to give space.

It’s a role where you’ll need resilience, a sense of humour, and the ability to celebrate progress that doesn’t always show up on paper.

What we’re looking for:

  • HLTA qualification or strong experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or within a PRU setting.
  • Confidence leading sessions and managing a classroom when required.
  • A calm, consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Someone who can build trust, set boundaries, and keep things positive.
  • A team player who brings energy and reliability to the school day.

Why this school?

  • A genuinely supportive team who’ve got each other’s backs.
  • Strong leadership that understands the challenges of SEMH and PRU settings.
  • A setting where staff wellbeing is taken seriously.
  • Opportunities to grow, develop, and really make the role your own.
  • You won’t be left to figure things out on your own here. There’s a real team feel, and plenty of support when you need it.

Why join Protocol Education?

  • We make the whole process easy and actually work around you.
  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies.
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy, including behaviour and SEND training.
  • A dedicated consultant who knows their schools and listens to what you want.
  • Long-term roles in settings that value what you bring.
  • Simple, quick registration with local opportunities.

We’re here to find you a role that fits, not just fill a gap.
