We are working with a well-established 11–18 secondary school in Northumberland to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and barriers to learning. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom.
The school has strong behaviour systems, a clear pastoral structure, and a proactive approach to inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
Location: Northumberland | Well-connected market town
Salary: £100 – £120 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with behaviour and emotional regulation needs
- Work 1:1 or in small groups to re-engage pupils in learning
- De-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour
- Support pupils in lessons, interventions, and alternative spaces
- Liaise with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and teaching staff
The ideal candidate:
- Experience in education, youth work, care, security, or similar settings
- Confident supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Open to day-to-day or long-term placements
