Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes? We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Harlow that is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join their supportive team from September. This specialist school supports pupils with SEMH needs, providing a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, emotional regulation, and the skills needed to succeed. The school places strong emphasis on building positive relationships and helping young people re‑engage with learning.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and wider support professionals to provide personalised support for pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will help pupils manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, improve social skills, and access education through consistent and positive approaches.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Be calm, patient, and resilient when faced with challenging situations
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers
  • Be confident building trusting and positive relationships with pupils
  • Be able to use a consistent and supportive approach to behaviour management
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative and dedicated team
