Whether you're planning a PGCE, School Direct, or a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, social work or youth work, this is one of the best ways to gain paid, hands-on classroom experience while making a real difference to young people’s lives. Many of our Graduate Teaching Assistants go on to secure teacher training places and permanent school-based roles after gaining invaluable classroom experience.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers to support students both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4
  • Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Supporting students with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia and SEMH needs
  • Helping students build confidence, resilience and independence
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Supporting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Gaining valuable experience in classroom management and behaviour strategies
