We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a well-established KS1 team within a welcoming Gateshead primary school. You will take responsibility for a class of 24 pupils with a broad range of abilities. Within the class, 6 pupils are currently working below age-related expectations in phonics and receive daily targeted intervention, supported by a full-time Level 2 Teaching Assistant. The class has established routines and responds well to structured teaching approaches. The school places a strong emphasis on early reading, with a consistent whole-school phonics scheme (Little Wandle) embedded across EYFS and KS1. You will be expected to deliver high-quality daily phonics sessions and adapt teaching to ensure all pupils make sustained progress.

This role would suit both an ECT looking for strong support and an experienced teacher with a passion for early years education. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position.
