We are working with a number of welcoming and inclusive schools across Gateshead that are looking to recruit dedicated SEND Support Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs. These schools are committed to providing every child with the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential. Staff work collaboratively to create safe, nurturing and engaging learning environments where all pupils can thrive.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting pupils with a variety of SEND needs throughout the school day
- Delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning support
- Encouraging participation, confidence and engagement in classroom activities
- Working closely with class teachers, SENDCOs and wider school staff
- Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, social development and independence
- Monitoring progress and contributing to individual support plans
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- A caring, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- A positive, proactive and flexible attitude
- Willingness to travel across Gateshead and surrounding areas
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous but not essential
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role
