A supportive primary school in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who benefit from additional academic, behavioural and emotional support, providing invaluable experience for anyone considering a career in psychology, education or child development.
Your Role
Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and experienced support staff, you will:
- Support children with Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to improve confidence and engagement.
- Help children regulate emotions and develop social skills.
- Promote positive behaviour throughout the school day.
- Assist teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Observe and monitor pupil progress.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing and supportive school community.
