A friendly and inclusive primary school in Gateshead is looking to appoint a motivated Psychology Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Primary Teaching.
Working alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals, you'll gain invaluable experience supporting children both academically and emotionally while developing practical skills that will enhance your future career.
About the Role
As a Psychology Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support children on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups.
- Help pupils develop confidence, communication and emotional resilience.
- Assist children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.
- Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities to individual needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils and families.
- Observe and record pupil progress to support learning plans.
- Help create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
What We're Looking For
- A Psychology degree (or closely related subject).
- A genuine interest in child development and education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Previous experience with children is desirable but not essential.
