Role Overview: Provide specialist support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, assisting with educational, physical, sensory, and personal care needs to enable access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with complex learning difficulties and medical needs.
- Deliver individual and small-group learning activities under teacher guidance.
- Use sensory-based teaching approaches and communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and intensive interaction.
- Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility requirements.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment records.
- Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion.
- Work closely with therapists, healthcare professionals, and families.
Essential Qualifications:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Experience supporting SEND pupils, particularly PMLD learners.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies.
