Support Pupils to Access Education
Do you have a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and experience working with children with additional needs?
Protocol Education are looking for a Level 3 TA to join a specialist setting in Gateshead, supporting children and young people with physical and/or medical needs.
You’ll play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, using specialist equipment, assistive technology and accessible ICT to support their individual needs.
What You’ll Do
- Support pupils with physical and medical needs.
- Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning.
- Adapt activities and resources where necessary.
- Encourage independence and participation.
- Support pupils with assistive technology.
- Prepare and check specialist equipment.
- Support alternative communication systems.
- Help maintain accessible ICT.
- Troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues.
- Support safe movement and positioning.
- Follow individual health and support plans.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and other professionals.
- Monitor pupils and provide clear feedback.
- Support inclusive practice across the setting.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience within SEND or specialist education.
- Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs.
- Good ICT skills and confidence using technology.
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work across different environments.
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
This role would suit a proactive TA who wants to develop specialist experience while making a practical difference to pupils’ access, independence and learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
