Your care experience could be exactly what a child needs. A friendly primary school in Gateshead, with around 340 pupils, is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team supporting children who need extra guidance throughout the school day.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Contract: Full-time, long-term with opportunities to continue into September

If you've worked in care, support work, residential settings or healthcare, you've already developed many of the skills schools are looking for. Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Helping children regulate emotions and manage routines
  • Encouraging independence and confidence
  • Supporting learning through play and practical activities
  • Working closely with teachers and SEND staff

The school is looking for someone calm, patient and compassionate who enjoys helping others succeed. No classroom experience is needed, just the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
