We're working with a specialist alternative provision in Gateshead that's looking for dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants to join the team this September.

The setting supports secondary-aged pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs, using a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.

  • Supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Helping pupils regulate their emotions and re‑engage with learning
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence every day

  • Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
  • Have a calm, resilient and positive approach
  • Understand that behaviour is communication
  • Enjoy building strong, consistent relationships
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one
  • Are available to work full‑time from September
